Before working for Grevillea Care I had been working for large companies that weren’t very supportive of staff. Meetings were missed for participants and you weren’t able to advocate for those whom you supported. Its been challenging to watch. Complaints weren’t followed up. And I’ve been in the job for 8 yrs + from national wheelchair sports supports to SIL accommodation teams. Participants with disabilities – ranging from non- verbal children, to palliative high complex needs- adult participants. I’ve worked in support coordination, domestic assistance and also at ground level- as a support worker. This I prefer- as I appreciate having more of a connection with t my participants. This is the first time working for a company where changes happen relatively fast, support from Coordinators is unwavering and honest. From palliative to high complex needs our teams work tirelessly doing the best we can in a challenging industry. No workplace is perfect, but I know from the rostering team- to the owner, the heart is in the right place and our values are aligned. When I first received NDIS support I was somewhat bewildered by the whole process. I was handed a list of potential support coordinators and told to choose one. After about fifteen calls, I made one to Grevillea Care and Vicky answered. After a short chat, I asked if I could visit the office as I had no idea what I was doing with all the NDIS stuff. She said yes and twenty minutes later I was there and she kindly guided me through the whole process. Needless to say, I asked her to be my coordinator to which she agreed. That was almost a year ago and the service, care and professionalism since has been outstanding. I’m sure I’ve called with many dumb questions but Vicky has always been on hand to help and guide me to a resolution. I can’t recommend Grevillea Care, Vicky and all the lovely staff and support workers highly enough. They really have tailored their service to my particular needs and as a result my life has improved dramatically. If you’re looking for an honest, down to earth and grounded support service with old school values and integrity, Grevillea is definitely worth the call.
